      Hi Hilbo,
Not really. Everyone has moments when experiments don’t work, or job applications aren’t coming to fruition, but I have been lucky: it always seemed that I turned the corner at the right moment. My job now is reasonably well paid, can be flexible and I get to work with some great colleagues and great students. I’m pretty happy all-told!
      Best wishes
      Richard

There was a brief period of a couple of years after I graduated where I hadn’t found a job in a lab and I worried that I had wasted my time. But as soon as I was back in a lab again I had no doubts!

      Hello Hilbo,

So far, I have not doubted my career path.

The key is choosing a career based on a subject area that you have an interest in and preferably passionate about which is reasonably well paid to afford you a decent standard of living. If you can tick these boxes, you will hopefully have a rewarding career.

      Best wishes,
      Alex

      Hey Hilbo,

I kind of fell into this career and I’m still not really sure what I’ll end up doing as a proper job so yes, don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what you want to do yet! I do enjoy what I’m doing at the moment (my PhD) and I’m learning a lot so I’m not unhappy.

      Best wishes,
      Laura 🙂
